How Ennis High School Streamlined Football Strength & Conditioning
Introduction
Ennis High School, a 5-time Texas 5A football champion, fields around 150 players annually—with no full-time strength coach. Instead, the football coaches collectively manage Power & Performance using TeamBuildr. What was once a paper-printed, manual system has become a future-ready, streamlined operation.
Challenges
Before TeamBuildr, Ennis coaches spent weekends crafting paper-based workout sheets, stapling them into “groups,” and distributing them rack-to-rack. Players logged lifts manually on cards, which coaches had to input into computers during their planning periods—spending over an hour daily per coach. To save time, they often skipped logging missed reps and manually adjusted training maxes—sacrificing precision and efficiency.
Solution
Introducing TeamBuildr’s Weight Room View via rack-mounted tablets changed everything:
- Made the program completely paperless
- Delivered customized workouts (%s, reps) directly to athletes
- Allowed players to input data in real time at each station
- Automatically updated their 1‑RM each session
- Aggregated data into reports for easy coach review
Ennis leveraged existing iPads and added budget tablets, placing 16 units around the weight room—one per rack and a spare for attendance or programming tweaks.
Previously relying on static BFS software, Ennis coaches can now fine‑tune workouts for each athlete. They build training blocks in 4- and 6-week cycles, save them, and simply “load” these programs into the calendar—editing reps, sets, and percentages for each phase with ease.
Results
The transition to TeamBuildr delivered measurable gains in efficiency, quality, and engagement:
- Dynamic updates are just a few clicks away—perfect for managing last-minute schedule changes.
- The weight room stays tidy, with no loose papers and seamless transitions between groups during split-rack days.
- Coaches can focus on athlete coaching:
“Once it’s set up, it’s like running a program on autopilot… coaches can now focus on our athletes 100% in the weight room and monitor their quality of reps.” —Brandon Alvarez, Strength Coach & Football Coach
- Players love the process:
“Seniors come back from college and complain their teams don’t have this technology… A lot of our players like it because they can see who is stronger. Leaderboards bring transparency.”
