Introduction

Felipe Eichenberger, Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Denver Nuggets, has dedicated his career to supporting high-performance athletes at the NBA level. After playing college basketball at Northwestern Oklahoma State and earning a degree in health and sports science, Felipe began his coaching journey with NBA athletes in Las Vegas.

He joined the Nuggets in 2011, steadily rising through the ranks to lead the team’s strength and conditioning department. Today, Felipe and his staff oversee a comprehensive training system that adapts to players’ needs throughout the year—whether they’re in-season, traveling, or training remotely in the offseason.

Challenges

NBA athletes face one of the most demanding travel and competition schedules in professional sports. For Felipe and the Nuggets, the challenge was to ensure that every player, regardless of location or time of year, had access to the right training programs and performance protocols.

This was especially critical during offseason travel, summer league, the All-Star break, or rehabilitation periods when athletes weren’t physically present in Denver. Additionally, managing in-season performance required a streamlined approach to monitoring data, including velocity-based training metrics.

Solution

To address these challenges, the Nuggets turned to TeamBuildr’s mobile app and integration tools. The staff used TeamBuildr to deliver remote training programs personalized to each athlete, giving players access to their workouts from anywhere in the world. During the summer, their programs emphasized mobility, plyometrics, strength, and conditioning, while allowing room for individualized rehab work.

Throughout the season, the Nuggets utilized TeamBuildr’s integration with GymAware to automate the collection of velocity-based training (VBT) data. This provided real-time insights into athlete performance and allowed the staff to make informed adjustments to workloads and recovery protocols without added administrative burden.

By structuring their training into progressive phases based on the periodization cycle, Felipe’s staff maintained consistency in programming while adapting to the individual needs of players across different stages of the year.
