About Forged Sports Performance

When Miles Greenblatt and his co-coach, Razer Ashraf, opened Forged Sports Performance in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, they started out in a garage with six clients and a passion for helping athletes reach their potential.

Four years later, that small operation has evolved into a 3,600 sq. ft. performance facility with over 70 active members, including 55 youth athletes and a growing adult program. Their year-over-year growth? 40% – all built on community, trust, and systems that allow them to focus on coaching instead of chaos.

The Challenge: Growth Outpacing Capacity

As Forged grew, so did the administrative load. Managing programming, memberships, and scheduling while maintaining communication with parents and athletes became a full-time job, and that was on top of Miles’ other full-time role as a firefighter.

“We started with six athletes out of a garage. Now we’re in a prime location, serving over 70 clients,” Miles explains. “The hardest part wasn’t the coaching, it was keeping up with the systems that made everything run.”

On top of operations, Miles also faced the marketing challenge that nearly every small gym owner knows too well: staying visible in a crowded social media landscape while still running day-to-day sessions. Forged had thrived on word-of-mouth and referrals, but as they grew, Miles knew they’d need a stronger foundation to manage that growth sustainably.

The Solution: Smart Systems That Let Coaches Coach

To scale effectively without burning out, Miles turned to TeamBuildr OS and other integrated systems to handle the behind-the-scenes work that used to slow things down.

Programming Made Personal

Forged uses TeamBuildr Strength to create and deliver individualized programs for every athlete. Even when three athletes play the same sport, their programs differ based on ability, injury history, and performance goals. Custom movement videos, notes, and feedback loops ensure athletes can train confidently whether Miles is in the gym or at the firehouse.

“We love the customizability,” Miles says. “I can tweak a program for one athlete’s hip or knee issue and still manage everyone else’s workflow in the same place.”

Memberships, Payments, and Scheduling Simplified

Using TeamBuildr OS as their member management system, Forged keeps all memberships, billing, and scheduling in one place. From recurring payments to class booking and snack sales, the software handles the administrative tasks that used to require hours of manual effort.

“It’s super easy. Once I have someone’s information and membership set, everything’s done automatically,” says Miles. “That’s huge when you’re balancing two careers.”

Data-Driven Performance and Retention

Forged also integrates tools like Output for mobility assessments and VALD systems (Force Decks, SmartSpeed, ForceFrame) to collect data that helps athletes track measurable progress. This scientific approach to performance isn’t just for elite athletes; it keeps clients engaged, motivated, and loyal.

Marketing Retention: Growth from the Inside Out

While many gyms rely on paid ads and discounts to fill classes in January, Forged Sports Performance focuses on organic growth through relationships, a retention strategy that’s proven more effective over time. With TeamBuildr OS and TeamBuildr Strength running the back end operations on cruise control, this frees up time to focus on delivering an excellent on the floor product as an owner-operator. That gold standard of coaching is a simple but fundamental strategy for continued growth and sustainability.

The Word-of-Mouth Flywheel

Parents see the progress their kids make and want to experience it themselves. Today, nearly half of Forged’s adult clients are parents of youth athletes.

“The kids love coming in. They see results, they compete with each other, and they leave smiling,” Miles says. “Their parents see that and ask, ‘Is there something we can do too?’ That’s how our adult program started.”

Flexibility Over Discounts

Rather than deep discounts or one-time January deals, Forged offers seasonal Flex Passes and recovery packages that meet clients where they are, ensuring steady engagement even during off-seasons.

Community Over Transactions

Forged’s retention strategy centers on genuine connection, what Miles calls the “communication triangle” between the coach, the athlete, and the parent.
By keeping that line of communication open, they create trust, accountability, and buy-in that no short-term promotion can match.

“We want to know our athletes, what’s going on at school, what their goals are, what they’re dealing with outside the gym. That connection is what keeps them coming back.”

Takeaway for Gym Owners

Forged Sports Performance proves that you don’t need a massive budget or a marketing agency to grow. You need systems that let you focus on coaching, clients, and community, the things that matter most.

As the January rush approaches, the gyms that win won’t just be the ones with the most sign-ups; they’ll be the ones that are ready for them.

“You don’t have to be the biggest to be the best. You just have to build smarter.”
