Vitargo S2 is a muscle fuel & recovery supplement made by the friendly people over at GENR8. One of these powder packets stores only 280 calories and 70 carbs – that’s it – so it can be added with any of your protein or amino acid supplements. The patented formula’s main ingredient, fractionated barley amylopectin, is sourced from Europe although Vitargo S2 is manufactured in the U.S. Read our Vitargo review below!
As a glycogen loader, this supplement aims to store carbohydrates for extended periods of exercises – the main carbohydrate tends to be the same one found in fruits, vegetables, and grains. Although we did not use this for weeks, we could tell a difference in the few days we used the product and we even extended our strength and conditioning workout to put it to the test. However, we took Vitargo with our normal protein powder from Muscle Milk which may interfere with our assessment.
As a whole, we liked the tropical fruit flavor a lot and, like other supplements, taste better when mixed with really cold water. GENR8 claims that Vitargo S2 leaves the stomach quicker, gets into muscle faster, boosts your next performance, and turns off muscle protein breakdown, all aspects crucial for strength training. The package even cites these claims with references from peer-reviewed journals, which we can appreciate.
The only downsides include the fact that this powder is extremely thick when mixed and needs to be shaken “vigorously.” To the credit of GENR8, they acknowledge this and state it upfront in the directions. There is also a lot of powder which needs a lot of water which can be heavy on your stomach if you are also drinking another protein shake. We recommend eating a bar instead.
Overall, we really loved the Vitargo supplement we got from GENR8. And since it’s meant for extended exercise and rapid muscle recovery, you may even want to check with a nutritionist about taking this during preseason camp or two-a-days – let us know what they say. But don’t forget it’s not just supplements that make you a better athlete – check out this post for other tips.
