Maria Kang is a professional trainer, fitness enthusiast and mother of three young boys. Her passion for fitness and a healthy lifestyle is mainly channeled through her Facebook page. That's also where, one day, Maria found a campaign that encouraged obese women to post pictures of themselves in lingerie to encourage body confidence and self-acceptance.
That's where Maria Kang decided to take a stand and devoted a post condemning what she calls an unhealthy mentality and expressed how she is "annoyed" with such an irresponsible movement, "We need to change this strange mentality we're breeding in the US, and while I think it's important to love and accept your body, I was a little peeved because I feel like we're normalizing obesity in America."
Her Facebook was then shut down out of the blue citing "hate speech." However, Facebook reinstated her account and claimed it was a mistake... 2 1/2 days later. Maria was surprised that her post was removed - she claimed that her freedom of speech was being impeded.
Controversy is not new to Maria, who is increasingly being referred to as "hot mom." Her profile picture, above, stirred waves from both sides of the argument. Supporters of the "you go, girl!" variety flocked to her site as well as the opposition who claim Maria is projecting a superficial image and needlessly guilt-ing others with different lifestyles.
"I'm a fitness advocate... I am not going to stand here and say that it is OK to be obese and that it is the norm." says Maria.
